On the 26th December 2019 my sister and I received news that would change our lives forever. Our dear ol dad (77) had MND and the bad kind we were told. I remember thinking is there a good one? I made a snap decision to surprise my family for Christmas arriving to Canberra from Perth first thing Christmas morning. Little did we know it would be our last Christmas together as a family.

We didn't really have much time to get our heads around what it all meant as shortly after COVID hit and we were unable to travel. Thankfully we did manage to have time with him near the end and he got to see his grandsons one last time. When dad passed peacefully on 25th July 2020 he had his beautiful wife and two daughters by his side as he wished.

The MND association were very supportive during this time particularly for my sister and I who were not in Canberra so were always available for our multiple questions via email or phone. They also helped us plan out Dads care and coordinate various resources so we were more informed.

Dad was part of a trial to try and help others as he wanted any research on his condition to go to others for early awareness and intervention. This he was passionate about.

Although our dad has gone, his valiant battle lives on in our hearts and we all still try in any little way to support those either with MND or their families who are part of the journey.

So, I have decided to take the plunge and dive for dollars over our beautiful Rottnest Island on the 5th Nov! If you have a spare few dollars I would love your support to something that is so personal and close to my heart.

Thank you in advance
Kylie
