A Palliative Approach to MND

10:00AM - 12:30PM Friday 22nd May 2026
The Hub, The HUB - Building, 2 Brodie-Hall Dr, Bentley, WA

MNDAWA is hosting a practical information session designed to help people living with MND and their loved ones better understand care options following a MND diagnosis. If you are unsure of what options are available to you and would like to know how to prepare in a way that honours your wishes and values, then this session may be right for you. We are here to walk alongside you, linking you in to ensure you and your loved ones have all the information you need to make informed choices, maintain your quality of life for as long as possible, and feel supported at every stage of the journey.

Palliative care helps people with MND to live their life as fully and as comfortably as possible. It identifies and treats symptoms which may be physical, emotional, spiritual or social. As part of your broader care team, palliative care focuses on your comfort, wellbeing, and peace of mind, helping you and your family feel more supported, informed, and prepared as your needs evolve over time.

This session is designed to gently guide you through what may lie ahead. You’ll hear from Professor Davina Porock, who will explore the many end-of-life care options, explain how to access them, and shed light on what palliative care truly involves. Sabena Lund, Community Educator from Palliative Care WA, will then guide you through advance care planning, including how to begin the process and create an Advance Health Directive.

We understand that these topics can feel sensitive and, at times, confronting. It’s important to approach this information in a way that feels right for you. You are encouraged to take breaks, step away if needed, or engage at your own pace. Our intention is to create a space that feels respectful, safe, and supportive, where information is shared with care and compassion.

We invite you to join us for this session, an opportunity to feel informed, supported, and more prepared for the road ahead. You can attend online or in person.

If attending online - the link will be provided via email prior to the event.
